Facial Aesthetics in East Kilbride

Facial Aesthetics East Kilbride

Facial aesthetics are best described as a range of non-surgical treatments such as filler and botox that are available at our practice in East Kilbride.

If you’re deliberating whether facial aesthetics are for you, we’ve noted below a few reasons why you may benefit from them.

Anti-wrinkle injections

Anti -wrinkle injections or otherwise known as ‘botox’ are a type of facial aesthetic that involves a purified protein called botulinum toxin being injected into the muscle of your face so that it becomes more relaxed and therefore appears smoother.

It is normally used to even out the lines and wrinkles that are on your forehead or around your eyes. After your treatment, it will normally take 2-3 days for it to start to work, and the results will last for 3-4 months.

Anti-wrinkle injections are ideal for anyone who is self-conscious about deep lines on their face and wish for a smoother, more youthful appearance.

Fillers

Fillers or ‘dermal fillers’ are another type of facial aesthetic that involve using products such as restylane and juverderm to reduce the signs of aging by smoothing lines and deep wrinkles and adding volume to areas of your face- most commonly your cheeks or lips.

Before getting fillers, you need to make sure you know which area you need (or want) them. Speaking to a qualified, friendly practitioner at Avondale Dental Practice will help.

Fillers are not permanent and usually last between 6 and 18 months however this is dependent on what type of filler has been used and where it has been injected.

Composite bonding in East Kilbride

Composite Bonding East Kilbride

What is composite bonding?

Composite bonding is a modern dental procedure where the dentist applies a tooth-coloured resin to the patients teeth to help restore the teeth and improve their appearance.

What can composite bonding fix?

Composite bonding can fix a variety of different dental problems including crooked teeth, discoloured teeth and restoring the structure of teeth. This is done by a dentist applying resin in specific places to make the tooth appear more symmetrical and improve the patient’s smile.

Additionally, composite bonding can also help fill in gaps in patients’ front teeth. However, it is very important to assess the state of each patient’s teeth carefully before the procedure. This is to ensure they are suitable to proceed with the treatment. Factors such as their bite and if they grind their teeth may mean they cannot have the procedure as the resin may be too weak and break.

Is the treatment painful?

The treatment is completely painless and there is no anaesthesia needed! During a composite bonding procedure no changes are made to the structure of the tooth and therefore drilling is not necessary.

How many visits to the dentist does the procedure require?

Conveniently, the procedure can be completed in just one appointment, meaning you get your results instantly!

What are the advantages of composite bonding?

  • It is a cheaper procedure than other dental treatments
  • It usually lasts for 6 or 7 years
  • The procedure is completely painless

What is involved in the procedure?

Firstly, the shade of the resin is determined by comparing the patient’s tooth colour to a shade card to ensure a natural look.

Next, the teeth are cleaned to reduce the threat of infection.

Once the teeth have been cleaned, the dentist will use an acidic solution to etch the specific areas where the bonding will go and is then rinsed away after a minute.

Next, the dentist will apply a bonding agent to the areas that have been etched with a fine brush utensil to prepare the teeth for the application of the composite bonding.

The dentist will then apply the composite bonding to the etched areas ensuring it is the correct shape. Then, the dentist will set the bonding and composite solutions for a minute using a curing light. Finally, the dentist may polish reshape or adjust the bonding.
