I qualified from The University of Dundee in 1991 and I have been practicing in East Kilbride since 1993. Since joining Avondale Dental Practice in 2001, I have built a team that brings to the community a Dental Practice with the latest technology and attitude for delivering dental care to suit all our different lifestyle’s needs & wants going forward.
I am a passionate proponent of Prevention of Dental Disease and to this end promote the importance of Dental Hygiene and Therapy for the general health and well being of all our patients. I have been providing facial aesthetics in the practice for the last 10 years, having
underdone extensive training in this field along with other cosmetic procedures such as “smile design”, tooth whitening, veneers and crown & bridge work.
I qualified from the University of Glasgow in 2013 and joined Avondale in August 2015. Since then, I have completed the MFDS Qualification and gained membership to the Royal College of Surgeons in Glasgow. I completed my Postgraduate Certification to place dental implants in 2017 and have since worked under the mentorship of several of the UK’s most highly regarded Implant Dentists.
I have a keen interest in Cosmetic Dentistry, and I am passionate about providing patients with natural and aesthetically pleasing smile makeovers. As an accredited Invisalign provider, I use clear orthodontic aligners to straighten teeth combined with the latest digital technology- intraoral scanning allows me to carry out your treatment impression-free!
I qualified from the University of Glasgow in 2007 and started practicing at Avondale in February 2009. I enjoy meeting people and do my best to ensure that all visits here are as relaxed and comfortable as possible.
This includes giving full explanations of procedures from start to finish, ensuring that I put my patients at ease. All treatment is patient centered with a particular emphasis on preventative care, especially with children. Amongst my interests within dentistry are advanced restorative dentistry, the prevention of periodontal disease and also the treatment of anxious patients. I am committed to continuing my training as a means to providing the highest standard of care and the latest techniques to my patients, to ensure you have a healthy smile both now and in the future.
I graduated from Dundee University in 1995 and since then I have gained a breadth of different experience, including working within the East Kilbride community in the mid 2000s.
My aim in practice is to try and provide patients with their dental needs with minimal intervention, as is the philosophy of Avondale. I enjoy providing a holistic approach to dentistry, getting to know my clients well, enabling us to work together to provide the correct treatment for each individual, rather than a one size fits all option.
My areas of interest are root treatments, maximising the life span of teeth with said minimal intervention and advising on and providing advanced restorative options where appropriate.
I also have a reputation for helping people with fears and phobias gain the confidence to undergo required treatment rather than requiring sedation.
I graduated from The University of Highlands and Islands in 2016 with a degree in Oral Health Science while working at Stornoway Dental Centre. Since then, I have completed a post graduate vocational training year, based in the south of Glasgow before joining Avondale in 2017. Day-to-day, I enjoy helping patients improve their oral Hygiene and achieve a healthy mouth. Within our hygiene service at Avondale dental practice, we include Guided Biofilm Therapy which is completed along with regular cleanings using an airflow machine to remove all bacteria in the mouth that can contribute to tooth decay and gum disease. I am also qualified to undertake simple restorations in both adults and children, take radiographs, placing fissure sealants, apply fluoride and deciduous extractions while also assisting with aesthetical treatment, such as anti wrinkle injections and lip fillers.
I grew up in Stornoway and went on to the University of Glasgow many, many years ago. After graduating with a BSc in Genetics I did a PhD in Cambridge. In 1993 I returned to Glasgow and established the Cancer Genetics Laboratory at the Beatson Institute for Cancer Research, which I ran for 12 years. During my research career I published over 100 research papers and played a pivotal role in the discovery and understanding of the BRCA1 breast-cancer susceptibility gene.
In 2005 it was time for a career-change and I’ve been the Practice Manager at Avondale ever since. This is a multi-faceted role, including managing staff and finances, trouble-shooting issues with IT and dental equipment, clearing leaves and snow; and dealing with any other issues which may arise.
