Anti-wrinkle injections (more commonly referred to as ‘Botox’) for the forehead and around the eyes are our most popular treatment for both men and women.
We find that most people would like to look more refreshed and maintain a subtle but youthful appearance without looking ‘overdone’.
By specifically targeting certain muscles with anti wrinkle injections, we are able to soften lines, correct any asymmetry of the eyebrows and even lift them to give you a more youthful appearance. ‘Botox’ can also be beneficial to helping those who suffer with TMD issues such as Bruxism, headaches or jaw ache.
What is Botulinum Toxin (AKA ‘Botox’)?
‘Botox’ is a purified protein which is injected into the muscle. This allows the muscle to temporarily relax, which can help to soften facial expressions and can improve the signs of ageing.
How effective is ‘Botox’?
The product usually takes 2-3 days to start working and the effects can last up to 4 months depending on the strength of your muscles and your individual response to the product.
What to expect on the day
Before the treatment any make up will be removed and the area will be cleansed. The product is placed into the muscle with a fine needle. You shouldn’t experience any discomfort. However, if you are sensitive we can use a topical anaesthetic cream, although in most cases this is not necessary.
The treatment itself will take 15 minutes and you can return to your usual activities immediately afterwards.
After ‘botox’, we advise you to avoid the following for up to 2 weeks;
- Beauty treatments (such as facials or facial massages)
- Saunas (and other extreme temperatures)
Are there any side effects?
Like all medicines, ‘Botox’ can cause side effects, however, any reactions are generally minimal and temporary. You may find that there can be some slight discomfort as the needle enters the skin and you may have some bruising or bleeding where the needle has been placed.
Very rarely, ‘Botox’ may result in muscle weakness. All other rare, although possible side effects can be found within the patient information leaflet which comes with the product. Please feel free to contact us and we will be happy to give this to you.
If you are concerned or feel you are having a reaction, please do not hesitate to contact us or your local GP.
